I’m Dusty Klifman and I’d like to welcome you to Blueyes Below. It is my passion to document lost ships, sail the blue waters, and explore out of the way places around the Great Lakes.
You don’t have to be a diver, sailor, or hiker to enjoy what you find here. You just need to have a sense of adventure and curiosity about what is around the next corner.
I believe it’s important to share these experiences with people who value what they represent–living your best life.

Great Lakes Shipwrecks
Researchers believe that over 6,000 shipwrecks lie beneath the waves of the Great Lakes. These waterways were once the “highways” of the Midwest. Far too often ships would leave port never to return.
Blueyes Below is actively working to rediscover these lost ships and document the shipwreck sites with high-quality photography and video. The intent, always, is to share what is found with anyone who wishes to see it.
By diving and using a state-of-the-art ROV, Blueyes Below will become your eyes underwater, allowing you to see and explore these shipwrecks, too. Along the way you can learn about the equipment we use, and a bit more about diving shipwrecks in the Great Lakes.

I’ve set up a little biography page if you’d like to learn more about me.
Sailing
There’s something magical about sailing on the Great Lakes.
Being out there alone and vulnerable makes you trust your equipment and skills. And it makes you thankful for whatever little vessel you’re on. Because even if you’re in a 60-foot boat, it’s small once you get out here!
Some of you have your own boats, and know what I am talking about. For others, the dream of sailing the blue waters of the inland seas feels far away. I’m glad you’ve found your way here, and I’m looking forward to sharing my experiences with you.
Exploration
The Great lakes are full of great place to explore. Islands, lighthouses, abandoned places and natural wonders are just around the corner if you know where to look.
I’ll share the experience of exploring new and favorite places around the Great Lakes. We’ll go hiking, boating, and camping. And all the while, we’ll be waiting to see what’s next.
I love this whole area, and as I explore more of it, I can’t wait to share it with you.
